چکیده
Experimental material consisted of 25 lines, 2 testers and their 50 crosses along with standard checks viz., Palam Sankar Makka-2 PSCL 4640 were evaluated using Randomized Block Design two replication during Kharif 2020. Genotype mean square was significant for days to 50% tasseling, silking, 75% brown husk, ear height (cm), plant length circumference kernel rows/cob, kernels/row, 1000-kernel weight (g), shelling (%) grain yield (q/ha) which indicated the presence sufficient genetic variability in studied. Also ratio GCA variance SCA less than unity all traits preponderance non-additive gene action. Among KI-3 exhibited higher followed by KI-7 CML 140. These lines also highest effect identified as promising parents. × LM 13, 140 139 162 13 14 maximum most traits. cross combinations need be multi-location trials over years assess suitability different agro-climatic zones State.

COMBINING ABILITY AND HETEROSIS IN MAIZE (Zea mays L.)
A line × tester analysis was conducted in maize involving 12 lines and 3 testers for grain yield and its components to determine the heterosis as well as general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) effects. Highly significant genotypic differences were observed indicated wide range of variability present among the genotypes. GCA and SCA variance for yield per plant numb...
متن کاملCombining Ability Study of Biochemical and Physiological Traits of Maize (Zea mays L.) Using fourth Dialllel Griffing’s Method
Biochemical and physiological traits are affected by environmental stresses and therefore the breeding of these traits will play an effective role in stress tolerance. In this study, hybrids of five S7 lines of maize in a 5 × 5 half-diallel design were investigated in order to study the combining ability of biochemical and physiological traits of maize at the Research Farm of Graduate Universit...

Maize is one of the most important grain and forage plants that has a unique role in the food and feed, especially poultry feed. To study the genetic effects, genes act and identify the best hybrid combination for morphological traits, experiment was carried out in diallel cross layout using 19 parents at Gorgan Agricultural Research Station, Iran in 2013. The progenies were planted in three re...

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...
